Hi Early Adopter,

We thank you for your patience and willingness to try Pugmarks. We are committed to bring useful and relevant content to you, wherever you are. We are committed to keep improving our products usability, and make it as useful as can be.

While you were using our product, we have been working hard to improve the product. We’ve contacted many of you for feedback, taken criticism. Some of you may have seen changes being rolled out all the while. Here’s a summary of the changes we’ve made.

1) Plugin first: Notifications

From early users we learnt that serendipity is never sought after, but is appreciated when something interesting shows up. We’ve changed our product design approach to bring you interesting and relevant notifications to where you are. Here’s an example:

2) Better control on the plugin’s operations

Sometimes, you like control over the plugin’s behavior. You may be in a focused transactional session on the web, and want to go low on discovery. You can pause notifications, and enable them back when you are in reading mode. Even when notifications are paused, you can still pugmark pages and see recommendations – just that you have to explicitly ask.

3) Layout of recommendations

Some of you asked for recommendations to be organized better. We’ve now arranged them as “You may like”, “Share”, “Follow”, and “Found on this page”. Recommendations are organized around the use case now.

4) Improved sharing

We want to make sharing relevant information easy, and recommend friends who may be interested in the article you are seeing. Many of you wanted to share with someone explicitly. Here goes. Friends on pugmarks are searchable right in the recommendation view. You can add the ones that seem relevant. We’ll learn from this and automatically suggest them in similar contexts in the future.

5) Search inside your web of trust, from any context

Plugin users can right click on any selection of text, and search Pugmarks. We’ll search inside your marks, and your web of trust (including your twitter sources, and other trusted publishers) as well. Search among your trusted sources before you go to the wild web! Try us at https://pugmarks.me/search.

6) Get insights on your web of trust:

Your web of trust is dynamic, active and influential. We’ve created a page that shows how active your web of trust is, and how influential they are.

User profile pages are now personalized for you. Visit a user profile and see articles that are just relevant for you, from that source. Huffington Post never seemed so relevant before.

You can see your web of trust at https://pugmarks.me/accounts/friends

7) Beautiful and fact-filled article sharing

When you share with your friends on Pugmarks, you dont just share a link. You share the articles, along with relevant recommendations sourced from your web of trust. The email goes out with beautiful nuggets and context - that saves a lot of time for your friends.

We hoped you loved these improvements. Thank you for being with us. We are committed to bring you the best, through your own friends.

Please keep the feedback flowing!
